On July 20th, Wednesday, while I was heading towards the Izmit train station, I stopped by the famous Ortakoy Mussel Vendor on the way to get a fish sandwich and go. “Fish Sandwich Salad 4 TL” was written on the wall. I told the waiter that I wanted a fish sandwich with salad. He said okay. Meanwhile, when he asked me what I wanted to drink, I said cola. While waiting, thinking he would bring a canned cola, he brought me a 200ml bottle of cola for 2.5 TL. I mentioned how expensive it was. Then I asked for the fish sandwich to be packed to not miss the train. I asked the master if he was giving me half a loaf of bread. “Yes,” he said. I also thought he would pack the salad nicely. I took the bag and left for the train station.
When I opened the package, there was a quarter of bread, a small fish, a large sliced tomato, an unsliced lettuce leaf, and half an onion added in between. They have made a poor job of it, as the saying goes. If I had a chance to catch the train, I would have gone back and told them to prepare food for the homeless for the money I paid for another fish sandwich.
By saying “Fish Sandwich Salad 4 TL,” they deceive customers by adding vagueness to the promotions they write, such as whether the bread is half or quarter and whether the drink is bottled or canned.
You tell me, does a fish sandwich salad consist of half a sliced onion, one lettuce leaf, and one thick sliced tomato? Have we been referring to salad like this for years?
I hope this article reaches you and you fulfill your services properly next time. There is no exaggeration in my writing. The chubby boy behind the grill knows what he put in the fish sandwich. I will never forget the half onion.
I am not satisfied with the famous Ortakoy Mussel Vendor in Izmit.
