Who is Kermit the Frog?

Let’s take a look at the 56-year career of Kermit the Frog, who entered our lives through Sesame Street and added color to our childhood.

Throughout his 56 years in show business, he has worked on numerous television, film, stage, and online projects. Among these works are the videos “Bohemian Rhapsody” (2009) and “Ode to Joy” (2008) created by the Muppets, which were hugely successful and won Webby awards. Kermit was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002 and was nominated for an Academy and Golden Globe Award in 1979 for the song “Rainbow Connection.” Kermit has appeared multiple times in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. In 2005, he was given the key to the town of Kermit, Texas. He was also awarded an honorary degree in Amphibious Culture from the Southampton College of Long Island University. Kermit became the first amphibian to speak at the prestigious Oxford Union at Oxford University.

Kermit has starred in films such as “The Muppet Movie” (1979), “The Great Muppet Caper” (1981), “Muppets Take Manhattan” (1984), “The Muppet Christmas Carol” (1992), “Muppet Treasure Island” (1996), and “Muppets From Space” (1999). Kermit also appeared in the TV movies “Muppets’ Wizard of Oz” (2005) and “A Muppet Christmas: Letters to Santa”. He hosted and starred in the internationally popular “The Muppet Show” from 1976 to 1981. He also appeared in “Muppets Tonight”. Kermit appeared as a guest on many talk shows such as “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno”, “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”, “The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson”, “Today”, and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien”. He also made appearances on shows like “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and “Saturday Night Live”. Kermit’s book “Look Before You Leap: A Frog’s Eye View of Life’s Greatest Lessons”, which is a collection of his memoirs, was published in 2006.
