The new series Daredevil, which started a few weeks ago and took its place among the most remarkable series of Netflix, has made a magnificent start. All episodes were released at the same time, and I will explain the details open to criticism in the rest of my writing, and before I evaluate the series, I would like to point out that what I write may contain spoilers, so if you haven’t watched the series yet, start by examining the Daredevil series plot.
When I first heard that Daredevil’s series would be made, I remembered that he was the blind lawyer who saved Spiderman in court. Marvel characters were not well-known in our country, and then I took a look at the comic books I found on a few sites, and it had a very interesting story. As you know, there is a great work beneath the emergence of all Marvel characters and their life stories.
Summary of Daredevil Season 1 Episode 13
Daredevil loses his sight after a traffic accident caused by a chemical that gets on his face while saving the life of a man trying to cross the street when he was young, and starts to see the world in darkness at the age of nine. However, this did not mean that he could not use other senses, on the contrary, losing his sight gave him the opportunity to develop his other senses better, but life would not be easy.
Our hero, who grows up with his father, who is a boxer, panicked and experienced problems after becoming blind, but never gives up and starts working to improve himself and achieve success. His first job is to continue reading. He starts to learn how to read braille books by touching them and shows great success. On the other hand, his father needs to work to make a living, and he is always referred to as a boxer who gets beaten up all the time, and his little hero helps his father after the matches. He helps his father by sewing up his wounds or bandaging them when necessary. They have no one else but each other in their lives.
One day, his father is matched with a big rival, and he receives an offer that he will be given money if he is knocked out by the fifth round. Even though he has lost many matches by being beaten up until that time, he has never been knocked out. “No matter how low Murdock falls, he gets back up again,” is a conversation between Matt and his father. Matt (Daredevil), who has developed his hearing ability, hears what the men who made the offer say and reminds his father that the Murdocks never fall. His father, who loves his son very much, decides to win in this big match to make his son happy, and puts all their money on the bet on himself, taking all the risks, and wants it to be deposited into his son’s account when he wins. His wish comes true that night, and he makes his son very happy and earns a lot of money, but the organizers do not like what he did, and his father is killed when he returns home.
He loses the only person he has when he is young and is placed in an orphanage, but he is not a normal child, and as his sensory organs become more sensitive day by day, he begins to perceive all the sounds around him, bringing the noises of objects, animals, and people to the point of madness. Even the nuns think he’s gone crazy. However, an old man (Stick, who is also visually impaired) who will emerge later says it is a gift given to him, and that he needs to develop himself and learn what is happening around him without eyes. He helps him to leave the orphanage.
For a while, a elderly man tries to help Matt develop his skills and become a soldier by teaching him how to improve and utilize his abilities. However, things don’t go as planned when the old man, who ignores the fact that Matt is still a child, abandons him upon realizing how emotionally fragile he is. Matt is left alone once again.
He continues to develop himself by learning how to use his senses and practicing martial arts. He decides to fight against criminals by studying law at university. Law will be the first step towards achieving his goal. Matt’s friend Foggy, whom he meets at university, becomes his closest friend and ally in life. They dream of having a big law firm one day by graduating from law school together and helping innocent people and fighting crime.
But things don’t go as planned. After graduation, they start their internship at a big law firm, which is not their dream. They decide to open their own office, “Nelson and Murdock.” They struggle to find clients and any cases to work on, and they make a deal with a police officer to provide information about criminals who come to the station without a lawyer in exchange for a bribe.
Karen Page, a beautiful actress whom we know from the TV series True Blood, is accused of a murder she did not commit and cannot afford a lawyer. This is where our heroes’ lives will change when they go to the police station to help her, because the accusation against Page will reveal a big organization in the city. The murder is just a game that the rulers of the city have played to cover up certain things.
Although our lawyers prove Page’s innocence by uncovering this conspiracy, they know that powerful people are behind it and they do not have the power to fight it through the legal system. Our masked hero, Daredevil, fights to cleanse his beloved city, Hell’s Kitchen, of criminals. He embarks on an action-packed adventure by beating up many criminals involved in this conspiracy to find out who is behind it.
Wilson Fisk grew up in a troubled family where his father constantly beat his mother and him. When he kills his father while he was beating his mother, Wilson’s life changes. He is willing to do anything to become the man he wants to be and declares that the city belongs to him. He builds his dream of Hell’s Kitchen and kills many innocent and guilty people in the process. He establishes the largest crime organization in the city and buys off many police officers, judges, and senators to do all the dirty work.
When Matt learns that Fisk is the man behind all of these crimes and sees how powerful he is, he thinks he needs to make an exception to his principle of not killing people and considers it the only way to stop Wilson. However, there are still good people in the city who will help him.
In the struggle between Wilson and Matt, there will be many action-packed battles and exciting struggles that cannot be described. Wilson believes that everything is permissible in the pursuit of success and kills many people. He is actually an interesting character, and I think he could be a good person if he were molded differently. In fact, in a short episode of the series (“Stick” and a mysterious man), he says, “Will Murdock be ready when the doors open?” indicating that the biggest problem in the city is not Wilson, and that there will be even bigger problems to come.
After many actions and exciting events, Daredevil doesn’t have to kill anyone, and he sees that they can defeat Wilson using legal means with the help of his friends. They bring the criminal to justice to serve his sentence, but this success was not easy and many lives were lost in the process.
Review of Daredevil Season 1
It was a really great series, and I think it’s open to criticism. First of all, Netflix offers us the opportunity to watch all the episodes at once by releasing the series all at once. If you are a big fan of TV series, you can finish all the episodes in one breath. I am one of those people, and I watched all the episodes in two days. I wanted to share my thoughts with you, but I regret it now because all the episodes are over, and I have to wait for a whole year to watch season 2.
I enjoyed watching it, but I would like to touch on a few points, especially the costume. Throughout the first season, we watched a regular guy in a black outfit, and in the final scene of the final episode, they presented him in a simple costume, which is not fair!
Although I lowered my expectations by calling the first few episodes the “pilot,” I was expecting great scenes in the final episodes, but it was only limited to ordinary fight scenes!
Except for episodes 11-12, Daredevil’s first season didn’t continue from where it left off and started with completely different scenes each time, apparently trying to give a short film vibe. However, it wasn’t a successful choice as it only left unnecessary question marks in people’s minds.
In summary, Daredevil is a great series that you should watch!
