Samandağ Beach, which is 16 km long and located 22 km southwest of Antakya, is mostly preferred by local people, but it is also a beautiful beach that those who come to Antakya in summers should not miss. The sand on the beach is fine. After going about 50 meters into the sea, the depth reaches 2 meters. There may be some waves when the wind blows in summers.
Towards August and September, the waves decrease a bit. It is a suitable beach for surfing and sailing. It is a bit difficult to find umbrellas and loungers, so you can bring your own equipment. Blue tours are organized in the region, which go up to Latakia. Breakfast and lunch are included in the tours, which are held between 8.30 am and 7.30 pm. Since there is no land transportation within the 16 km long Samandağ Beach, which is located 22 km southwest of Antakya, you need to go from the slopes of Keldağ, an extension of the Taurus Mountains, to the beaches. The point where Keldağ meets the sea is ideal for diving. Tours are also organized from Samandağı to İskenderun. Guesthouses and restaurants can be found in Çevlik and Deniz sites.
There are many places on the beach where you can find food and drinks. When you come to Samandağ, you can visit the ruins of the Monastery of St. Simeon. See the Muhammed El Arabi Shrine, the rare Vespasianus and Titus Tunnel, the Cradle Cave, the Tomb of Hz. Hızır, and the charming Armenian village of Vakıflı.
